Expressive Art Therapy

Our Expressive Art Therapy program offers seniors a creative outlet for self-expression, emotional processing, and cognitive stimulation. No artistic experience is necessary—this program focuses on the therapeutic benefits of the creative process rather than creating “perfect” artwork.

Benefits of Art Therapy for Seniors

  • Emotional Expression: Process feelings through non-verbal creative outlets
  • Cognitive Stimulation: Engages multiple brain functions simultaneously
  • Stress Reduction: Promotes relaxation and mindfulness
  • Memory Enhancement: Stimulates recall through sensory engagement
  • Self-Discovery: Reveals insights about oneself through creative expression
  • Social Connection: Creates shared experiences in a supportive environment

Our Approach

Our certified art therapist guides participants through themed creative sessions using various mediums and techniques. Each session is structured to:

  • Create a safe, non-judgmental environment
  • Accommodate various physical abilities and limitations
  • Focus on the process rather than the final product
  • Allow for personal interpretation and expression
  • Include reflection and optional sharing
