Mindfulness & Meditation for Seniors
Our Mindfulness & Meditation program offers seniors an opportunity to cultivate inner peace, reduce stress, and improve overall well-being through guided meditation practices. These sessions are specifically designed for older adults and accommodate various physical abilities and experience levels.

Our Approach to Senior Meditation
We believe meditation should be accessible to everyone, regardless of physical limitations or prior experience. Our program features:
- Seated practices (chair or cushion options)
- Shorter meditation periods with gradual progression
- Clear, simple instructions without complex terminology
- Emphasis on practical benefits for daily life
- Adaptations for hearing or vision impairment
- Comfortable room temperature and proper seating support
Class Structure
Each 60-minute session includes:
- Gentle Movement (10 minutes): Simple stretches to prepare the body
- Breathing Practices (10 minutes): Calming breath techniques
- Guided Meditation (20-30 minutes): Various meditation styles
- Reflection (10 minutes): Optional sharing and discussion
- Weekly Practice (5 minutes): Suggestions for home practice
Types of Meditation Explored
Throughout the program, participants will experience different meditation styles:
- Breath Awareness: Focusing attention on the natural breath
- Body Scan: Systematically relaxing the body from head to toe
- Loving-Kindness: Cultivating compassion for self and others
- Guided Imagery: Using visualization for relaxation
- Mindful Movement: Gentle, awareness-based movement
- Sound Meditation: Using sounds as meditation anchors
When and Where
- Regular Sessions: Mondays and Fridays, 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM
- Location: Community Center Wellness Room
- Cost: $5 per session or $35 for 8-session pass
- Drop-in Option: Available, no registration required
What to Bring
- Comfortable clothing
- Water bottle
- Eyeglasses if needed for reading
- Any personal items for comfort (shawl, cushion, etc.)
Chairs, meditation cushions, and blankets are provided.
Your Instructor
Elizabeth Morgan, our meditation instructor, has over 15 years of experience teaching mindfulness to older adults. She holds certifications in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Senior Fitness, combining her expertise to create accessible meditation practices specifically for seniors.
Join Us!
Start your mindfulness journey by simply dropping in to any session. First-time participants are encouraged to arrive 10 minutes early to meet the instructor and get comfortably settled.
